B3GNT2

Last Update:2017-03-27

β3GnT2 (B3GNT2) transfers GlcNAc to the N-acetyllactosamine structure [LacNAc: Galβ1-4GlcNAc]. By further elongating, poly-N-acetyllactosamine (polylactosamine, [Galβ1-4GlcNAc]n), which is a structure in which the N-acetyllactosamine structure is repeated, is biosynthesized. In in vitro analysis, β3GnT2 has a very strong enzyme activity against the polylactosamine structure, and it suggests that β3GnT2 is the main polylactosamine synthase.
