EXTL1

Last Update:2021-12-17

EXTL1 encodes exostosin-like glycosyltransferase 1. This gene belongs to the multiple exostoses (EXT) family and is involved in heparan sulfate and heparin biosynthesis. The major structure of heparan sulfate is a disaccharide repeating structure consisting of (GlcNAcα1,4GlcAβ1,4). EXTL1 transfers GlcNAc to GlcA at the non-reducing end via α1,4 linkage mainly during chain lengthening.
