ALG14

Last Update:2016-08-10

ALG14 encodes a subunit of UDP-N-acetylglucosamine transferase that is involved in the synthesis of lipid-linked oligosaccharides in the endoplasmic reticulum. ALG14 protein associates with ALG13 protein to form bipartite UDP-N-acetylglucosamine transferase required for the second step of N-linked glycosylation. Co-expression of ALG14 and ALG13 functionally complements the defect of either alg14 or alg13 mutant in yeast. Mutation of ALG14 is associated with congenital myasthenic syndrome (myasthenic syndrome, congenital, without tubular aggregates).
