ST6GALNAC1, N-acetylgalactosaminide α-2,6-sialyltransferase 1, transfers sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to the GalNAc-Ser/Thr structure on glycoproteins, such as fetuin and asialo-bovine submaxillary mucin. ST6GALNAC1 is also called as STYI or SIAT7A. ST6GALNAC1 mainly synthesize sialyl-Tn, as well as 2,6sialyl-T and disialyl-T O-glycans, which is expressed in many cancer cells.
