FUT8

Last Update:2021-12-17

FUT8 encodes α1-6 fucosyltransferase, which transfers Fuc from the donor substrate; GDP-Fuc toward the acceptor substrate; GlcNAc at the root of the complex-type N-glycan via α1-6 linkage to synthesize the core fucose structure. The core fucose structure is commonly found in the N-linked glycans of various glycoproteins. Increased core fucose on the glycans of alpha-fetoprotein is known to be a useful serum marker for hepatocellular carcinoma.
