POFUT2 encodes protein O-fucosyltransferase 2. Although two types of O-Fuc modifications are known in vivo, POFUT2 transfer Fuc directly toward Ser or Thr in Thrombospondin type 1 repeat (TSRs) domains. POFUT2, like POFUT1, localizes to the ER. Glc is further attached to the O-Fuc of the TSR domain, but the function of these glycans in vivo is not known.
