CHST1

Last Update:2021-12-03

CHST1 encodes carbohydrate (keratan sulfate Gal-6) sulfotransferase 1. This enzyme is involved in the biosynthesis of keratan sulfate, a type of glycosaminoglycan (GAG). Keratan sulfate is a repeating disaccharide structure of (Galβ1,4GlcNAcβ1,3)n with sulfation at the 6-position of both Gal and GlcNAc. CHST1 is an enzyme that transfers sulfate to the Gal 6 position of keratan sulfate.
