CHST2 encodes carbohydrate (N-acetylglucosamine-6-O) sulfotransferase 2, which has GlcNAc6ST enzymatic activity to transfer sulfate to the 6-position of GlcNAc at the non-reducing end. Five isoenzymes of GlcNAc6ST were found in human. CHST2 is involved in the biosynthesis of 6-sulfo sLeX, an L-selectin ligand, and in the biosynthesis of keratan sulfate.
