CHST12

Last Update:2021-12-10

CHST12 encodes carbohydrate (chondroitin 4) sulfotransferase 12. This enzyme has C4ST activity to transfer sulfate to position 4 of GalNAc in the chondroitin sulfate biosynthesis. In human, there are three isoenzymes (CHST11, CHST12, CHST13). CHST12 transfers sulfate not only to chondroitin sulfate but also to position 4 of GalNAc adjacent to IdoA in dermatan sulfate (GalNAcβ1,4IdoAβ1,3).
