ST3GAL1

Last Update:2016-01-29

ST3GAL1, β-galactoside α-2,3-sialyltransferase 1, catalyzes sialic acid addition to the core 1 O-glycan, Galβ1→3GalNAc→Ser/Thr, which is a major core structure of mucin type O-glycans. ST3GAL1 was formerly known as ST3O or SIAT4A. ST3GAL1-deficient mice and -transgenic mice demonstrated that sialylation of core 1 O-glycan is required for T lymphocytes homeostasis.
