ST6GALNAC5

Last Update:2016-01-29

ST6GALNAC5, N-acetylgalactosaminide α-2,6-sialyltransferase 5, transfers sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to the NeuAcα2→3Galβ1→3GalNAc-R structure on glycolipids. ST6GALNAC5 is also called as SIAT7E. ST6GALNAC5 is a GM1b-specific α2,6-sialyltransferase, which synthesizes GD1α and is mainly expressed in the brain.
