ST8SIA3

Last Update:2016-01-29

ST8SIA3, ST8 α-N-acetylneuraminide α-2,8-sialyltransferase 3, transfers sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to the NeuAcα2→3-R structure on glycoproteins and glycolipids, synthesizing disialic acid to oligo sialic acid by α2,8-linkage. ST8SIA3 is also known as SIAT8C or ST8Sia-III. Good acceptor molecules for ST8SIA3 are fetuin and a ganglioside GM3.
