ST8SIA6 |
Last Update:2016-01-29 |
ST8SIA6, ST8 α-N-acetylneuraminide α-2,8-sialyltransferase 6, transfers sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to the NeuAcα2→3(6)Gal-R or NeuAcα2→6GalNAc-R structure on glycolipids and O-glycans, synthesizing disialic acid by α2,8-linkage. ST8SIA6 is also known as SIAT8F or ST8Sia-VI. ST8SIA6 exhibits high activity toward O-glycans of glycoproteins, such as bovine submaxillary mucin (BSM) but not to N-glycans.
