C1GALT1C1 encodes C1GALT1 specific chaperone 1. This protein is also called cosmc (core 1 β3-Gal-T-specific molecular chaperone). cosmc has no glycosyltransferase activity, is localized in the endoplasmic reticulum, and functions for the normal molecular folding of core1 GalT protein.
