B4GALT6 |
Last Update:2016-02-09 |
UDP-Gal:betaGlcNAc beta 1,4-galactosyltransferase, polypeptide 6 (B4GALT6) transfers galactose to glucosylceramide. B4GALT6 is also known as β4GalT-IV and β-1,4-galactosyltransferase 6. B4GALT family is consist of 7 β-1,4-galactosyltransferases, which show different substrate specificity and expression patterns. B4GALT6 is considered as a lactosylceramide (LacCer) synthase important for glycolipid biosynthesis. (However, LacCer synthase activity was decreased in B4GALT5-deficient mice, but the activity was not confirmed in vitro.)
