GCNT1 |
Last Update:2016-05-20 |
GCNT1 is a glucosaminyl (N-acetyl) transferase 1, core 2, which transfers GlcNAc from UDP-GlcNAc to the C6 position of GalNAc in core 1 O-glycan structure, Galβ1→3GalNAc-Ser/Thr, resulting in core 2 structure, Galβ1→3(GlcNAcβ1→6)GalNAc-Ser/Thr. GCNT1 is also known as core 2β1,6 N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase-I, C2GNT1 or C2GNT-L. Core 2 O-glycan is one of key structures in mucin type O-glycans. Overexpression of GCNT1 in resting T-cells reduced immune response by affecting T-B cell interaction. Lack of GCNT1 demonstrated that GCNT1 is partly involved in leukocyte rolling.
