A4GNT

Last Update:2021-11-26

A4GNT encodes alpha-1,4-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase, which synthesizes GlcNAc alpha1,4Gal- by transferring GlcNAc with an alpha1,4 linkage toward Gal beta- in O-glycans as an acceptor substrate. This glycan structure is present on mucin glycoproteins secreted from the stomach and is known to inhibit the growth of Helicobacter pylori.
