CSGALNACT2 |
Last Update:2021-12-10 |
CSGALNACT2 encodes chondroitin sulfate N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 2. The two kinds of N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase (GalNAcT) are involved in the biosynthesis of glycan backbone of chondroitin sulfate. One is GalNAcT-I, which catalyzes GalNAc transfer toward GlcA in the linkage region between GAG glycan and proteoglycan core protein and the other is GalNAcT-II, which transfer GalNAc toward GlcA in the repeating di-saccharide unit of (GlcAβ1,3GalNAcβ1,4)n. CSGalNAcT1 and CSGalNAcT2 have both GalNAcT activities in vitro, however, in vivo, they mainly play the GalNAcT-I reaction which is initiation procedure for chondoitin sulfate biosynthesis.
