CSS3

Last Update:2021-12-17

CSS3 (CHSY3) encodes chondroitin sulfate synthase 3, which is involved in the biosynthesis of chondroitin sulfate. CSS3 (CHSY3) has two glycosyltransferase domains, β1,3GT and β1,4GT, and forms a complex with CHSY1, CHPF, and CHPF2 to exert GalNAc-transferase and GlcA-transferase activities and is responsible for the elongation of chondroitin chains. The expression level of CSS3 (CHSY3) is lower than that of CHSY1, and its enzymatic activity is weaker.
