SLC35D2

Last Update:2017-12-12

SLC35D2 encodes a nucleotide-sugar transporter that is localized in the Golgi membrane. It has the ability to transport UDP-glucose (UDP-Glc), UDP-N-acetylglucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc) and GDP-Mannose (GDP-Man). SLC35D2 transports UDP-GlcNAc and UDP-Glc in the mammalian cells, but transports GDP-Man alone in the yeast. It is also known as HFRC1 or UGTREL8, and involved in the synthesis of heparan sulfate by regulating the level of UDP-GlcNAc.
